Getting started

How do I create an account?

Go to the Register tab, enter your name, email, and a password (or continue with Google). You'll pick your country and state/province during registration — that's what sets your default tax rate and regional pricing.

I registered but never got the verification email — what do I do?

Check your spam or junk folder first — this is by far the most common cause. Automated account emails sometimes get filtered even when everything's working correctly.

Still nothing after a few minutes? Go back to the sign-in screen and use Resend the email on the confirmation screen. If you signed in with Google instead of email/password, you don't need to verify at all — Google accounts skip this step.

Can I change my country or region after signing up?

Yes, from Account. This updates your default tax rate and which currency your billing is shown in going forward — it doesn't retroactively change estimates or invoices you've already created.

Can I sign in with Google instead of a password?

Yes — use Continue with Google on the sign-in page. Since Google has already verified your email address, you skip the email-confirmation step entirely.

Estimates

What estimate templates are available?

Seven starting points, each pre-loaded with typical line items so you're not starting from a blank page:

  • Whole House Renovation
  • Kitchen Renovation
  • Bathroom Renovation
  • Basement Renovation
  • Painting Project (interior & exterior)
  • Flooring Project
  • ADU (Additional Dwelling Unit)

Every number in every template is a starting point, not a fixed price — add, remove, and edit line items freely once you're in an estimate.

What's the difference between "Est $" and "Actual $" on a line item?

Est $ is the placeholder price the template started with (adjusted for your region). Actual $ is what you enter once you have a real quote or receipt — paste the product's URL into the Link column, click through to check the price, then type it into Actual $. Once an Actual price is entered, it's used for all your totals instead of the estimate.

What's the difference between Contingency and Markup?

Contingency is a buffer for the unknowns every renovation runs into — it's a cost you're planning to absorb, not extra profit. Markup is your margin on top of cost.

Both are separate percentages you set per estimate, and both compound into the final total along with tax. Set either to 0% if you don't want it included.

Can I put an expiration date on an estimate?

Yes — the Valid until field in the estimate header. It's optional, and it prints on the copy your client sees, which protects you if material prices move before they sign off.

Can I hide quantities or unit rates from what my client sees?

Yes. In the toolbar above the line items, check Hide quantities when sent to client and/or Hide unit rates when sent to client. These only affect the printed/PDF copy — your own working view on screen always shows full detail.

Can I export or back up an estimate?

Yes — Export CSV gives you a spreadsheet-friendly breakdown of every line item plus totals. Export backup saves the complete estimate as a JSON file you can re-import later with the Import button — useful before a big edit, or to move an estimate to another account.

How do I send an estimate to my client?

Use Print and choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog (or print it directly). The printed version drops the internal toolbar and editing controls automatically and carries the Estiquik mark.

Invoices

How do I create an invoice?

Every invoice is generated from an existing estimate — open the estimate and create its invoice from there, or start from the Invoices page. Line items, client info, and region carry over automatically; you're free to adjust markup, contingency, discount, and tax before sending.

Do markup and contingency carry over from the estimate to the invoice?

A brand-new invoice starts with the same Markup % and Contingency % you set on the estimate, as a starting point — you can change either independently on the invoice from there without affecting the original estimate.

Can I track a deposit or partial payment on an invoice?

Yes — the Deposit paid field, entered as a flat amount or a percentage of the total. The invoice shows the remaining balance due.

Can I charge tax on materials only, not labour?

Yes — the Apply tax to setting lets you choose "Everything" or "Materials & goods only." Rules on whether labour is taxable vary by location, so confirm what applies where you work.

Clients

What does the Clients section do?

It's a simple CRM — save each client's contact info once, then pick them from a dropdown when starting a new estimate or invoice instead of retyping it. Each client's page shows every estimate and invoice linked to them, plus running totals for outstanding and collected amounts.

Billing & subscription

How much does Estiquik cost?

$19/month or $190/year (billed in USD; Canadian accounts are billed in CAD at the equivalent shown at checkout). The annual plan works out to about two months free compared to paying monthly.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days free on either plan for new subscribers, no charge until the trial ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial and you won't be charged at all.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Billing and click Manage billing / cancel — this opens a secure Stripe page where you can cancel, switch plans, or update your payment method yourself, no need to contact anyone.

Is it safe to enter my card details?

Yes — checkout and billing are handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number is never seen or stored by Estiquik. See our Security page for the full picture.

I have a coupon or access code — where do I enter it?

On the Billing page, under "Have a coupon / test-access code?"

Account & data

I forgot my password — how do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, click Forgot password? after entering your email. You'll get a reset link by email.

Does Estiquik work offline?

The estimate or invoice you're actively working on is cached in your browser, so a brief connection drop won't lose your work — it syncs once you're back online. A full internet connection is needed to sign in, sync across devices, or load client records.

Can other users see my estimates or client data?

No — every record is isolated to your account and enforced on the server side, not just hidden in the interface. Full details are on the Security page.
